Galaxy Tab S7+ : The tablet has the largest display

Samsung finally introduced its iPad Pro rival as the Galaxy Tab S7+. This tablet has the largest screen of any previous flagship Samsung tablet. Samsung has also equipped the basic Galaxy Tab S7 with more advanced technology, making the Galaxy Tab S7+ truly the tablet of choice for professionals looking to add tablets to their workspaces.

Design of the Galaxy Tab S7 +

The design of the Galaxy Tab S7 + is very familiar. It looks like a high-end device with a metal and glass construction. Brushed metal surfaces add a classy look to the overall. The front of the tablet is dominated by the large screen while all the buttons are located on the right bracket.

Four AKG-tuned speakers are present in addition to a USB Type-C port. There’s a notch on the back for the S Pen to attach to magnetically. It is good for a vertically aligned dual camera setup. Overall, the Galaxy Tab S7 + is bigger than any previous flagship tablet but it retains a very slim profile.

Technical specifications

Samsung has chosen the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor for the Galaxy Tab S7+. There’s 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on the base model while an 8GB / 256GB configuration is also available. Up to 1TB of storage can be expanded with a microSD card.

The Galaxy Tab S7+ is only available for Wi-Fi as well as 5G variants. Samsung sells the Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G only in markets with next-generation networks available. Four speakers tuned by AKG with Dolby Atmos provide stereo sound when the tablet is in landscape mode. The device has a capacity of 10,090mAh and supports 45W super fast charging.

The S Pen has been enhanced for Samsung’s latest tablets. The company reduced the lag to just 9ms, and that completely changes the feeling when users draw or write on the tablet with the S Pen.

Display

Samsung has equipped a 12.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 × 1752 pixels, a 16:10 aspect ratio for the Galaxy Tab S7+. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and animation. There is a fingerprint sensor embedded in the display.

Samsung S Pen

A major highlight is the S Pen and that stylus is and works the same on both tablets. It’s an active, pressure-sensitive pen that can detect 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. There’s one button on its side and you can attach it magnetically to the side of the tablet.

The S Pen works without having to be charged and, in fact, you can use every S Pen Samsung makes. They’re all interchangeable. But some features are special to the Galaxy Tab S7 series and that’s why these pens have a battery. With the pens, you can use wireless gestures and for these, they do need to be charged. For that, you just place them on the back of the tablet.

But, again, for handwriting and drawings, they don’t need to be charged, so if you don’t need those gestures, you never have to worry about charging them.

Using gestures, you can quickly start a new note, always return to the home screen, and scroll through the gallery. Most are not that useful. But I like that you can use the S Pen as a trigger for the camera. And the only feature that can be super useful for some is that it can act as a remote when giving a presentation in PowerPoint. That’s nice.

Most want to use the S Pen for handwritten notes, to annotate PDFs, or to draw with. And this is where the stylus shines and it did improve quite a bit compared to the Galaxy Tab S6. The pen reacts and draws super-fast now, almost instantly.

Camera

Since its predecessor brought dual cameras to Samsung’s tablets, it’s no surprise that the Galaxy Tab S7 + also has them. The dual camera setup at the back consists of a 13-megapixel main camera paired with a 5-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. The 8-megapixel front-facing camera is currently located on the right bezel, not at the top.

Software

Samsung will ship the Galaxy Tab S7 + with Android 10 and One UI 2.5. The latest version of Samsung’s custom software adds many new features to the tablet. It also enhances the functionality of the S Pen, which is crucial to the productivity experience.
